Signing the SSAB, Manitong will launch a series of "fossil-free steel" products in 2026
2024-04-15 17:16Manitong Group has signed an agreement with Nordic steel company SSAB for the delivery of fossil-free steel.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026 and increase with the addition of SSAB's fossil-free steel capacity. The agreement represents the ambition of both companies to significantly reduce their direct and indirect carbon emissions.
Fossil free steel refers to steel produced without the use of fossil fuels or fossil raw materials, such as coal or coke. SSAB is a highly specialized global steel company dedicated to developing high-strength steel and providing services to improve performance and sustainability, with the goal of becoming the first steel company in the world to bring fossil-free steel to market by 2026. The two companies are expanding their collaboration by adding future deliveries of SSAB Fossil-free™ and SSAB Zero® steel.
These two types of steel produce almost zero fossil carbon emissions (less than 0.05 kg of CO2 per kg of steel in Scope 1 and 2), which will enable the Manitone Group to bring a new generation of sustainable products to market and significantly reduce the CO2 footprint, including telescopic forklift °, high-lift platforms or forklift series.
